Mystic San Luis Valley
The Valley offers year-round recreational activities, festivals, dark skies, open spaces, history and cool summertime temperature.
Offerings include: 130+ Hiking Trails, the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, Penitente Canyon, Wheeler Geologic Area, 11 – 14ers, 15 Annual Festivals including Summerfest on the Rio, Taste of Creede, Stampede, Rhythms on the Rio, Covered Wagon Days, and Early Iron.
The San Luis Valley is also home to many of Colorado’s first and oldest: you can visit Colorado’s oldest church (Mission of San Acacio); and oldest parish (Our Lady of Guadalupe); the oldest town in Colorado, San Luis; oldest veterans’ care center (Homelake); oldest still-standing fort (Fort Garland Museum); and Colorado’s first designated national monument (Wheeler Geologic Area).

The Association is an all-volunteer non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve our environmental and cultural resources by unifying our marketing efforts to promote the Valley as a tourism destination and thereby developing responsible economic growth for the six counties of the San Luis Valley.
